Part 4: Not So Silent Voice
Last time, we heroically defeated the Rat King and even more heroically poked Terra into annoyance. Now, let us continue our grand quest!
What's this? There's more, a whole world to explore
Why, there's gold to be found and treasure in store
But what's the point, you're all hit and miss
It's all plain to see: you're not cut out for this

The bard is especially cheeky today. But, after reading that incredibly mature journal entry, can we really blame him?

Beating the rat dungeon unlocked three more! Let's check the one that I know is the most fitting for a caster first. I know that because my future self travelled back in time and popped in just to tell me that. He didn't tell me any winning lottery numbers, unfortunately. I hate myself sometimes.

That looks magical enough, alright.

As soon as Terra enters the dungeon, Embro himself appears to taunt us. I give him credit for wearing his evil heart on his sleeve, but I get the feeling he's putting too much faith in his level 1 minions.
Speaking of minions, there's no way we're going to fight a level 2 monster with a level 1 gear-less dungeoneer and win. So let's just put down a tunnel and a coin.

What, you mean those holes in the ceiling in Equi's room? They're just there to let fresh air in, honest. Also, you're overestimating the value of a single coin, Terra.
In the next turn, we repeat the same thing - but in addition to a corridor and a coin, we also put a goblin there!

How bourgeois.

The goblin opens the battle with the classic maneuver of trying to bash Terra's face in with his club. She counters by raising a fiery shield that burns him and stops weak magical attacks. That'd be more useful if the goblin had any magic.
Also, Terra's Talented trait means she starts with the first Fire spell, Fireblast. She doesn't even need a cup of coffee to do that.

Unfortunately, it seems that putting the goblin on fire also gave him a fiery temper. Terra counters with a lighning spell that'd break through the goblin's magical defenses... If it had any, that is.
Terra: "I'm starting to think you didn't pick the best opponent for my first fight."
Oh shush, you can win this. She's right though

Another Anger vs Fire Shield turn later, the situation looks grim. Both combatants are at 1 HP. Whoever deals the first blow wins... But it's usually the monsters that move first!
By "usually", I mean "when you don't happen to have a lightning-fast Zap spell at hand".

Terra: "Pick an enemy with attacks I can actually counter next time."

In this situation, Wooden Stool is actually not a bad bet. It gives us two physical defense cards (which Terra really needs), and for a character with good draw cardsm Stupidity 1 is not that bad.

As our next opponent, we're engaging a Fire Imp.

That's more like it. The Fire Imp has a special attack that deals both physical and magic damage - but Terra can block the magic part, and burn its back for its trouble!
Terra: "How am I burning a fire-affiliated creature, exactly?"
It's magic. I don't have to explain it.
Terra: "What a convenient excuse."

The imp is stumped by this riddle too - so much that it forgot to move! Terra uses the opportunity to draw 2 more cards. This might seem like a wasteful thing to do, drawing cards rather than dealing damage, but trust me - it's not.

Look at all those abilities. Now we're playing with power! Also, fighting fire with (stronger) fire.

Exchanging unblockable attacks? Don't mind if I do.

Imp: "Imma charging mah fiery wea-"
Terra: "No." *zap*

Victory! A straittjacket will help Terra stay alive and sane until she'll need it for good.

You really should've. Also, we could end the dungeon here by attacking the spider, but that'd be a waste of all the coins. So instead, we'll make a trail of them, leading to the spider.

Like this.

Oh hey, look at all those tough enemies we're not going to fight!

How pretentious.

Let's not mess with that Bear Owl, shall we.

More Latin. I actually know what this means, for once.

The Scary Spider is Frail, which means physical attacks deal extra damage to it. Pity we barely have any! Also, it tries to scare Terra. She's not scared, for she has fire.

Neurotoxin? No. Repel. Bad spider.

Perhaps we should've kept that Fire Shield for this moment, where the spider pushes advantage by dealing damage to Terra and healing itself. Oh well! Let's draw more cards instead.

It tries the drain trick again. This time, we do have a Fire Shield.

Terra loses patience with the spider and just bashes it with the stool. It's super effective!

The spider tries to act 2spoopy again. This time it's more successful, but it also gets burnt so much harder by the Fireblast.

And now, like every other fight in this update, we shall end this by moving before the enemy does and throwing Zap at it.
Terra: "Technically I'm the only one who does all this. You're just watching from safety and commenting."

Another victory! How about a song to celebrate?
I'm not sure you understand
This used to be a peaceful land
Since your guild's come along everything has gone wrong
And I dread to think what you've planned
Well, that's not ominous at all.

Immediately after we leave her, Terra gets impatient. Also, we have enough money to build another room. For example...

This. What dungeoneer might live here?
Up until now we've all had some fun
And you could say we've come very far
But brace yourself for some woeful cat puns
Now that we have a Cat Burglar
Meow
Meow? Are you sure you're not singing about beef stroganoff?
In any case, there's only one fitting name for this character.

Who didn't see that coming?
Now, let's find out how woeful those cat puns really are. Poking Fri in 3... 2... 1...

I regret my decision already.
