Part 14: Just a Flesh Wound

The Black Knight challenged Fri to a duel. Fortunately I'm the guildmaster, so it's up to me to decide should he go or n-
Fri: "Weeeee I got a rival! I have a good feline about this!" *runs off into the dungeon*
Well, that happened.

I just noticed the Black Knight has no arms. No comment.
We have only 8 turns before he the duel starts, so time is of the essence!

...Which is why we get no level 1 monsters in the first turn and waste it wandering aimlessly.

At least we have a rat to fight this time.

Good news: The Fountain of Heroism has an awesome effect that restores HP every time you block an attack.
Bad news: it's completely useless because Fri doesn't have any blocking cards right now.

But let's be serious, it's not like we needed it anyway.

The Black Knight seems impressed, however.

2 more turns wasted because the only monsters we drew would kick Fri's ass. That's not good. At least he's too busy looting gold to notice his situation is getting worse by the minute.

That gnoll and the chest it guarded give us some sweet items, at least. Maybe Fri will have a fighting chance after all.

Aw, this guy is such a good sport. I almost feel bad that at the end of day, either he or Fri will go home in pieces.

Let's fight a Bear Owl. It's a hard opponent, but Fri needs good equipment badly.

Some might think using Brace to counter a Head Blow is a waste. Those people were never stuck with only 2 cards on their hands.

Do you see what happened here? Yes, in this game you can actually increase your HP beyond the starting value with healing spells. Get ready for MAXIMUM OVERHEAL at some point in the future.

The rest of the fight goes predictably, by which I mean the monster gets catted and hugged to death.

While this item won't give us super high level attacks, we actually want all the offensive spells we can get for this fight. You'll see soon why.

Hell yeah I am. Believe it!

The following two monsters drop only one item we want. But it's a good one.

As soon as Fri picks up the shield, the Black Knight passes through walls in order to fight him. Such trivialities as 6 feet of solid rock won't stop him when he has a duel to fight!

The Black Knight has the Mundane trait, which means he takes more damage from spells. Now you know why I wanted to stock up on them.

We'll open with this. 2 damage and a bigger hand is worth taking 2 damage in return.

How does he use Armed attacks if he's literally armless, anyway?

In the following epic confrontation, many cats fly through the air! Or maybe it's just the same cat, more and more angry every time. I'm not entirely sure.

Oh no! He's about to say a bad word! Quick Fri, finish him off before he does it! This is a PG-rated LP!
What do you mean, I already said "shit" before? Don't be such a fucking nitpicker.

Black Knight: "Well done... But before I die... Can you at least... Tell me your name...?"
Fri: "I'm a cat!"
Black Knight: "..."
Fri: "?"
Black Knight: "...You know what. I'm out of here."

And then he got up and left, leaving his helmet behind. And the bard sang one of his old songs, unimpressed by the turn of events.

But joke's on him, because the money and the trophy are ours. And that's all that matters.

Finally we have enough money to construct a tier 2 building! And I know exactly what will it be...
If you're bruised from battle and feeling dismayed
And tired and weary and oh you get the gist
What you most likely need is to drink some heal aid
Available from your local Alchemist
The Alchemist's gameplay involves constantly imbibing medicine. This means that it's pretty much obvious who should our new recruit be.

Corel: "Why am I a girl?"
It happens in this LP sometimes, when I'm out of appropriate names. You can consider this an unforeseen side effect of a magic potion, if you wish.
Corel: "Maybe I should stop drinking untested potions..."
And switch to what, clear water?

Yeah, I get the feeling that's not gonna happen.
